Visualizing Data Science University Programs Across the Globe

Data Scientist is the sexiest job of the 21st century! McKinsey’s study predicted that by 2018, the United States alone faces a shortage of 140,000 to 190,000 people with analytical expertise and a 1.5 million shortage of managers with the skills to understand and make decisions based on analysis of big data. The studies of distinct recruitment agencies showed the high salary rates of these breed of individuals. So you want to be a data scientist? Are you searching for an academic data science program in your part of the world? Here’s a map we developed for a dozen of data science certificate, undergraduate and graduate programs in distinct colleges and universities worldwide. We have more than 450 universities in this map which shows that hundreds of colleges and universities worldwide are trying to close the big data talent gap.

The original data was downloaded from Github. You can contribute to the spreadsheet and add more universities. While interacting with the map, you can hover over cities to get the details of the program including degree type and whether it is online or on-campus education. Once you click a city, you will get a link for the city.
